About
I’m Donghui Xi, a Senior Software Architect in Sydney. For more than sixteen years I’ve built software for banks around the world: software that has to work every time, in places where nobody can afford for it not to.
I love coding, and what keeps it fun after all these years is that the ground never stops moving. Every new wave is another chance to build something that wasn’t possible before. Right now, that’s AI.
People tend to bring me two kinds of problems: the ones everyone has agreed are impossible, and the ones that were needed yesterday. I like both. Taking a system apart until I understand why it behaves the way it does, then finding the practical way to make it better, is the part of the job I’d do for free.
These days most of my energy goes into bringing AI into real engineering work: tools that agents can drive, assistants that read logs in plain language, and a way of building where people set the direction and agents do the heavy lifting.

Outside work
Off the keyboard (a mechanical one, Dvorak layout) I play tennis, badminton and soccer, and I’ve recently picked up pickleball. I like to cook, and I read Buddhist philosophy. I also drive a manual car, which is how I ended up writing a driving simulator.
